Update # 1

Hello world! As the standard blog start used to say.

Pre-pandemic we launched a newsletter on this website, but, with the pandemic and other projects taking over this fell away a little before it really had time to gain much momentum.

Right now though the website is going through a bit of a change, and we’ve decided to start a blog as our main feed of information, so please feel free to subscribe to this instead.

What we’ve been reading:

The book Antigone Rising: The Subversive Power of the Ancient Myths by Helen Morales, is a really interesting exploration of not only the relevance of the Greek/Roman myths, but how they have shaped our world view, often tragically.

What we are watching:

Sheng Wang’s new stand-up special Sweet and Juicy of Netflix is beyond hilarious. Must see.

Agatha Christies Poirot, on ITV, for some wonderfully well written whodunnits and beautiful sets. Classic.

What we are listening to:

In the world of podcasts, the ACFM crew have a fairly recent episode about Care so go switch on your listening ears.

adrienne and Autumn over at the end of the world podcast have recently done a couple of episodes exploring bell hooks book ‘all about love’. here and here, as ever essential.

Industry News:

The Arts Council have published a “Creative, Health, and Wellbeing Plan“, which outlines how they’re going to “work within health and social care, and how we’ll promote collaboration between organisations and practitioners in the creative and health sectors.” This will we are sure be essential useful reading for many.

Apocalypse News:

The apocalypse continues apace, and recently as part of the Heatwave Plan for England, all local authorities were encouraged to set up a register of ‘Cool Spaces’, now we’re going into a winter period of fuel crisis museums and local authorities are being asked to provide ‘warm spaces’. You have to wonder if there’s another way?
